LIFE LESSONS FROM THE YEAR OF THE PANDEMIC!

2020 has been a wild year. A year none of us expected and certainly, one that’ll stand out for us for years to come. Trips were cancelled, weddings were postponed. There were mini graduation ceremonies – virtually. Face time calls and girls’ nights and family reunions happening over Zoom. There were people singing on balconies around the world to honour and recognize front-line workers and the first-ever drive-by birthday party parades – these all stormed the globe. People lost jobs. Others lost entire businesses – some of those, legacy businesses that had been in families for generations.

Some lost their family homes.

For many though, the challenges were far greater.

Family and friends lost their lives. Some people lost their health to Covid. They contracted the virus, survived it, but the damage to their organs is long standing and possibly permanent. This means life-changing for those long-haulers.

Many were tragically denied the opportunity to say goodbye to loved ones who didn’t survive. Those victims endured their final moments alone. No family to hold their hands or to let them know how much they were loved and how much they’ll be missed giving new meaning to grief and agony.

Like many challenges in life though, there’s been plenty of opportunities for learning and growth and oftentimes, important life-lessons are thrust upon us without our consent and regardless of our preferences. Difficult times have a way of reminding us what’s truly important in life. They force us to look

in the mirror and reflect in ways that only trauma demands.

I’m fully aware of how tragedy can be so soul crushing it knocks you off your axis while also sparking a fire inside your heart. I know what it’s like to be falling apart but to also see what truly matters in life become so crystal clear.

I was curious to hear what lessons you’ve derived from this transformative, life-altering year so I reached out to my Community on Facebook and here’s what was shared:

Katrina McElhinney was reminded to slow down. When she felt relief, and even excitement, after her community began to shut down, she knew some things in her life needed to change.

I know she wasn’t the only one because I felt a bit of that relief too and I know Katrina and I aren’t the only two. How about you?

Carolyn Campbell learned that happiness is homemade. She had this to say: “… looking inward for happiness will always give better results than outward and being true to myself and my needs will always result in a happier me.”

What stood out to Leanna Harnish Snow is that “time is precious!” She doesn’t want anyone to wait and is realizing that the best time to act is today. I couldn’t agree more Leanna.

Terri-Ann Richards said that 2020 has been “a reminder that time is a gift” and wants to use her extra time “..to feed her soul.” Terri-Ann~ you’re speaking my language friend. I think the whole world could benefit from seeing more people take time to feed their souls.

Jennifer Trecartin said that “being stuck in during quarantine has taught me to truly control only what I can and have faith for the rest.”

I certainly didn’t need 2020 to remind me that life is fleeting and fragile too because I live with a daily reminder. I believe many people could use these important reminders though and I hope they’ll take the lessons this year has forced upon us to heart.

Life is not guaranteed to anyone.

All we really have is today; this very moment in time. That’s why I show up every day, pushing hard to stretch for my dreams and goals. I don’t want to waste my gift (my life) hoping, dreaming and wishing my life were different. I

want to use it up by continuously learning, growing and taking action to stretch and become the very best I can be. To become the most extraordinary version of me and I truly hope that you will do the same.

That’s the take-away. Take. Action. Be Brave. And that’s my wish for you too. If you’d like some help putting together your plan so you too can live your Boldest, Bravest, Most Audacious Life – I’d love to chat. Schedule your free call - email hello@tiffanyagnew.com XO Tiffany
